Back in Action

My camera is back in working order so I can finally go back to blogging!
Luckily, my camera broke during a good time period because absolutely nothing has happened...not really, but I've entered the heat of the semester so there is a lot going on and like my parents say "I'm here to study not to party".......yea right

So this past weekend, I got to go paintballing for the first time in my life, and definitely not the last. The paintball place was located in Effington Junction which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. (Fact: you can always tell when you are far away from anthing when the underground train suddenly is above ground)

Luckily with my small town roots, it pretty much felt like home. This is the view of the town when you walk out of the train station....see nothing!

....And that is pretty much the whole town

When I got to the paintball place I received a bullet proof vest (finally had my 50 Cent moment), which would have been helpful if I didn't get hit in every place except the area the vest was covering...

Below you will see everyone that was on my team. By the way, I have no idea who any of these people are (with the excpetion of the 5 or 6 people I came with). We played 8 games against the green team (not shown in any pictures) and we lost miserably. I cannot place enough emphasis on the word miserably, I mean the team of 6 to 10 year olds had us at round 3. But like they say "win as if you are used to it, lose as if you enjoy it." Clearly everyone on my team enjoys it a little too much....

Then there was Thanksgiving. All these lovely people in this photo were kind enough to celebrate this american holiday with me. Basically, I spent Thanksgiving with a couple Canadians, Italians, a Romanian, a Venezuelan, a German and one other American (how many people can say that?). I was very impressed with how well dinner turned out, because let's be honest, none of them have ever cooked a Thanksgiving meal. This includes me, I mean Thanksgiving just wouldn't be the same if I couldn't sit and watch my Father do all of the cooking, while I ask him over and over again what time dinner will be ready.

Here is the after photo....typical

Here is a random photo of Freckles looking just as cute on skype as he does in real life...
That's all folks

LOVE,

Kate

Vlog: Episode 1

YO!

Here are some videos to watch incase you find yourself really bored and can't find anything to ;)

...blowing a kiss AND playing the accordian...Quick, call Clive Davis and tell Justin Beiber to move over, we have a real talent on our hands!

Pidgeons....they chirp in a british accent (crazy...i know!)

Brick Lane..so glad I took a video, a picture couldn't even begin to justify the chaos.
But really, Brick Lane was pretty unique, at first it seems a little sketchy, but the vibe quickly changes when you reach a certain point. Don't be alarmed if you get swarmed by vendors asking (more like begging) you to buy something from them, and 90% of the time they are not speaking english, so don't agree to anything. But the street was mostly lined with a bunch of vintage street vendors and stores. You can also find an array of ethnic foods, such as Japanese, Vietnamese, Burmese, Chinese, Jamaican, Indian, Ethiopian, Mongolian, and so much more ( if only videos came along with smells..you'd all be hungry). A special note to all my vegetarian friends, most of the delicious cuisine offered is meatless YAY!

I finished my day by stopping by London Fashion Week, sadly tonights events were sold out so I will have to try again another night. Anyways, after I got off the tube and was walking towards the Somerset House (where fashion week is located) I noticed the street was all blocked off and people were lining up against the barracades. I thought maybe the Queen decided to venture out of her palace and pay her citizens a visit. Once again, I was wrong (as usual) and it turned out to be this...

I still have no idea what I witnessed...

You know how they have always said dinosaurs are extinct...it was all a lie, there is one here in London that they have kept in captivity! He is very calm for a dinosaur...

Here are a couple video of some nights out on the town...

I love clubbing with the 50+ generation...they are always down to have a good time, I mean nobody ever does a conga line anymore these days!

WARNING: this next video gets a little...uhm dirty? watch with caution. But really, how do I get myself into these situations, I thought it was karaoke night..but it ended up being Guilty Pleasures? HA ;)

This is usually what a normal night walking home from the pub (or club) looks like...don't want any of you to be missing out or anything. But really, you are missing out :(

But really, why are they getting their master's in international business...they should be trying out for American Idol (X factor...The Voice....whatever)

DEAR BROTHER, I was walking to school today and I just so happened to pass the most perfect place for you to work! (Love You)

Hi loves,

Here is some updates from the last two days...

I took a trip to the Natural History Museum to learn a little bit about well...natural history

Here is a couple of my findings:

I think this is my favorite prehistoric animal, its a Giant g Sloth, my reason for liking this creature is because he had no natural enemies! How sweet, he is a big friendly giant (not a reference to the book the BFG)

Met some baby dinosaurs...I think that is odd that they hatch from eggs..don't you?

They had a questionnaire asking "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DINOSAURS"...This was my response...(Same thing happened to the Mayans)...Also, where can I get a poster of this for my room?

See this little guy? What a cutie, poor thing is stuffed, but I think that Erin Rosen should get a real one as a pet instead of a dog...they are super tiny (like the size of ones hand)

I also encounter my first meteor rock...it travelled all the way here from Mars!

I'm not a fan of birds but I would take these as pets...dont they remind of the messenger bird that Fred Flinstone had when he got that corporate position at the quarry in the Flinstone Movie (the first one with John Goodman...you know from Roseann)

Also, Dodo birds...I wish that they still existed, how funny would it be to walking down the street and bump into one of these creatures! (only if they arent rabid and vicious) They became extinct only 250 years ago. Which means I am 250 years too late....better late than never, right?

This is a headstone for a famous spanish military commander in 1407...I am requesting a similar one when I die...I hear they take a long time to make, so somebody should probably get on it!

This is the kind of armor Japanese militia wore back in the day...I wonder if the mustache was included? hmmmmm

This is a wall fountain that was commonly found in the homes of the wealthy...it looks beautiful from a far...lets take a closer look...

These little cuties are the source of the water!... take a guess where the water comes out of...Boy, did those medieval artist sure have a sense of humor

Something is missing on this little guy.....

I spotted this sweet Iron bench...looks pretty cool huh, well it was made in 1997...I was quickly on to the next sweet bench (but really, it shouldnt be in a historial musuem until it is atleast historical, have kids that were born in 1997 even reached high school yet?)

Look its Papa! nice shades pops..Don't worry he really hasnt picked up a pipe since he was about 2 years old

Jordan! They even have a collection of priceless Decanters..he is two for your pleasure, if you like one I can see about getting it for you...I know its behind bullet proof glass and under heavy security but ANYTHING for you :)

I also stumbled upon Bubba's blue and white decorative ceramics collection...so that is where it all went when you and Papa moved to Florida...

Michael Paul, do you see this bed...its made from 9 layers of down feathers...I used to think your bed was the most comfortable bed in the world, but if you had this one I don't think I would ever get out of it. Unless its like Bubba and Papa's feather bed...then your bed goes back to the top of the list :)

I think that the late 1600s and Early 1700s would be a pretty interesting time to live. I mean the women wore extravagant dresses such as this....Either doorways were much wider then or they had to walk sideways, but I'm thinking the latter

This one is for Caitlyn Tapio, it's Friday so I had to get our traditional friday night cup of coffee, I opted for a cappacino with a sprinkling of cocoa powder this week, and went to a little cafe called the Creme de la Crepe...let's take a close look at that cup

Yes, that's right....it's a stick figure of George Clooney...

All my love,

Kate

Mind the Gap

Dear Nebraska,

How's it going? I'm missing everyone dearly but I promise I am thinking about you everyday and bringing your thoughts and spirits with every journey!

So nothing too eventful has occured quite yet but I have quickly realised that the names for products here are quite literal (i guess this isn't anything new, but interesting none the less)...I will provide a few examples

Dish Soap = washing up liquid
Twix = biscuit fingers
Trash Bags= Bin Liners
Maury Povich = Jeffrey Kyle

see?

Anyways, when my mother and I were on the plane they were serving us food and I found one of these delightful things sitting on my tray table....Mini Banana Bread Loaf? I was in awe, I thought this must be my first english treat this trip, could it be any more perfect? I mean everything is so much better when it is miniaturized...But sadly my little glimmer of hope disappeared when I looked at the label and found out it was made in California. That's okay, I loved every morcel of it, and I look forward to my next mini banana bread loaf

Moving along, the first place I saw when I popped out of the underground was this wonderful establishment, I took it as a sign from Erin Rosen...since it was all she seemed to talk about the enitre last month before I left. so Dear Erin, come to London and I will take you here

Dear Kelsey Hutchinson, see this klik klak chair...I stumbled upon and was thinking you should ditch that other one (it has cat hair on it anyways) and consider this fine handcrafted sleeper sofa...maybe this will pop up in your dorm room right after christmas? hmmm :)

Dear Jordan McWhorter, I don't even know what to say about this picture...who knew Frasier had a house here (and marked so well)...Who do I talk to about the misspelling of his name? I hope you are well into the 8th season

Dear Dad, since you have been nagging me about pictures of my Studio here is half of my room...it took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get it looking this fresh...pass it on!

This is what I wish was part of my kitchen...I mean really who wouldnt want to live in 1955! I would

This picture is slightly ironic...it was just a coincidence that the truck drove past as my mother took this picture. Just to let you know, this was taken on the way to the grocery store, why the suitcase? I didn't have anything else to put all the groceries in (well, now I do). oddly, everyone wheels around a suitcase, (but really, I feel like it is wierd not wheeling around one)...they are probably going off to someplace really cool, they might not use it for groceries...but hey, sometimes one needs to be resourceful in order to be efficient...atleast I didn't stick out like a sore thumb

Dear Caitlyn Tapio, while there is no picture for you there is something that is tangible and will hopefully arrive via snail mail for your 20th birthday!

That is all for today folks,

All My Love
